Erik Meier of Baraboo won his second straight Grand View Firehouse 50 bicycle road race last Saturday in an event that drew approximately 741 riders for the main race, 32-mile Fantasy 50 and 50-mile time trials.
Meier’s time of 2:02.6 was just one-tenth of a second ahead of second-place Mike Bobusch of Greenville, Wis., and two-tenths ahead of third-place LeRoy Walters of Cable. Brian Best of Cable finished 10th, two seconds out of first.
In the women’s race, Bean Linzmeyer of Hayward finished fourth in 2:16:54, just seven seconds behind winner Andrea Potyondy-Smith of Champlin, Minn. Gina McCrone, Minnetonka, Minn., was second in 2:16:50, and Kristi O’Kane of St. Paul was third in 2:16:53.
Firehouse 50 riders finished ahead of the rain, which arrived just in time for the awards presentation at the Grand View Town Park.
