Alarm Time: 7:30 PM

Arrival Time: 7:45 PM

In-service: 11:30 PM

Units responding: Grand View units 1622, 1631, 1633,& 1641; Namakagon units 2121, 2131, & 2141;Cable unit 1331, Great Divide Ambulance unit EMS 42,

Situation: Structure fire on Diamond Lake.

Arrival: 1st on-scene, Grand View Chief. The entire structure engulfed in flame. Fire had destroyed the roof and wall structure toward the lake. Fire was knocked down by the time the last units arrived. 9500 gallons of water were applied to the structure from tankers as a portable pump was being set-up to supply additional water from the lake.

The call was made by a fisherman on the lake after watching the smoke grow in intensity for about a half an hour.

The structure had no alarm system and the owners were not there at the time of the incident.

Cause of the fire has not been determined.

There were no injuries.

The cabin as it appeared six days after the fire. This is the west end with the lake to the right.

 

This is the view from the lake. From appearances and experience, the fire appears to have started long this wall.

 

 

The view from the front of the deck. The wall has been completely destroyed. Immediately behind the wall in this ocation was a small wood heater.

The only part of the structure undamaged was the northeast corner which was covered by gypsum dryall. It was also farthest removed from the seat of the fire.
